Finalist Project 2026
The Daddy's Embrace Project
Daddy’s Embrace is an initiative of the Culture & Medicine Foundation that works towards the active inclusion of fathers in prenatal care, childbirth, and the first moments of a baby's life.
In many contexts, especially in vulnerable areas, men are systematically excluded from this process. Institutional, cultural, and structural barriers keep fathers away precisely when their presence can have the greatest impact. The result is a cycle of absence, gender inequality, and worse outcomes for mothers and newborns.
This project was created to change this scenario.
Through direct work in communities, Daddy’s Embrace prepares fathers for care from pregnancy onwards, offering practical training, support, and access to basic resources, such as the baby bag, which has become a symbol of belonging, responsibility, and paternal pride. More than just a physical item, they represent a role change: the father as an active agent in care.
At the same time, the project works in conjunction with health institutions and systems, addressing barriers that still limit the presence of fathers in maternity wards and care settings. The initiative generates impact in multiple dimensions: it strengthens family bonds, promotes gender equality, expands access to health, and contributes to the reduction of social vulnerabilities.
Daddy's Embrace is not just a project about fatherhood. It is a concrete strategy for social transformation, which repositions care as a shared responsibility and begins from the start of life.
